Everything it does, and where the limits are
The product is deliberately narrow. Here is what is in it today, and what it does not do.
Getting data in
Most of the engineering effort went here, not into drawing.
Paste from anywhere
Copy a range out of Excel, Google Sheets or a web page and paste it straight in. Tab-separated, comma-separated or a markdown table all work.
Type the numbers instead
For a handful of values it is faster to write a sentence. "Q1 42, Q2 51, Q3 47, Q4 68" is a perfectly good input.

Comma-separated, tab-separated or a markdown table — paste it straight in. Up to 500 rows, on every plan.
Messy input handled
Merged header cells, a totals row at the bottom, numbers stored as text, blank rows in the middle. These are detected rather than charted.
Write dates out in full
There is no confirmation step, so 03/04/2026 is read one way and charted. Write 4 March 2026 or 2026-03-04 and there is nothing to guess at.
Units carried through
Say the numbers are in thousands or percent and that follows into the axis, the labels and the subtitle without you retyping it.
Drawing and editing
The rendering is our own code, not a charting library, which is why output stays consistent.
Nine chart types
Bar, grouped bar, stacked bar, horizontal bar, line, area, pie, donut and scatter. Switching between them redraws instantly without another generation.
Ask in plain words
"Sort descending", "top 10 and group the rest into Other", "put the units in the subtitle", "shorten the title". Add it to your prompt and generate again — there is no settings panel to hunt through.
One palette, every chart
Colours are not something you set — not on any plan. Every chart uses the same built-in palette, which is what keeps a deck built over three sittings looking like one deck.
Accessible by default
Every chart carries a text description for screen readers. The palette uses clearly distinct hues, and the first few series differ in lightness too, so one to three series survive greyscale and photocopying.
Take the specification with you
If you would rather work in JSON, the chart specification is one button away — copy it and rebuild the chart wherever you like. There is no way to paste one back in.
Nothing left behind
Your prompt, your data and the chart are not stored on our side. Export what you want and close the tab — there is nothing to tidy up afterwards.
Getting charts out
A chart you cannot export cleanly is a chart you did not make.
SVG
Vector, stays sharp at any size. The right choice for anything that will be projected.
PNG
Rendered at twice the resolution so it holds up when someone scales it in a slide.
For print and for reports that need to arrive exactly as designed.
JSON
The chart specification itself, copied to your clipboard, so you can rebuild the chart somewhere else or feed it to something.
What it does not do
Worth knowing before you sign up.
- It is not a dashboard. There are no live connections to a database or a warehouse, and no scheduled refresh. You bring the numbers each time.
- It is not a spreadsheet. Calculations, pivots and modelling happen in your tool of choice; ChartGPT starts once you have the numbers you want to show.
- It does not do maps or network diagrams. Geographic and node-link visuals are not supported today.
- It will not invent data. If your prompt has no numbers in it, you get an error asking for some rather than a plausible-looking chart.
