ChartGPT turns a description or a pasted table into a chart worth putting in front of people. That is the whole product.
Why it exists
Making a chart has never been the hard part. Deciding what the chart should say is hard. Getting the numbers right is hard. Everything between those two — selecting the range, inserting the chart, fixing the colours, correcting the axis, retyping the title, exporting, discovering the data changed — is not hard at all. It is just slow, and it takes attention away from the two parts that matter.
Kanishk Mehra started sketching ChartGPT at the end of 2025, after one deck too many. The first version tried to be a dashboard builder. It was shown to eleven people, nine of whom asked the same question: can I just paste my numbers in and get one chart out? That question became the product, and everything else was deleted.
ChartGPT launched publicly in August 2026.
What we believe about charts
A chart should have an argument
"Revenue by quarter" is a label. "Q4 was the strongest quarter of the year" is a chart doing its job. Tell ChartGPT what the chart is for and it will write the title that way.
Defaults are advice, not rules
Bars start at zero, rankings sort themselves, one series gets one colour. These defaults will keep you out of trouble, and every one of them can be overridden by saying so. You know your data better than we do.
Being wrong quietly is the worst failure
A tool that misreads a column and draws a confident chart anyway is worse than one that refuses. When a date could be March or April, or a set of percentages adds up to 103, ChartGPT says so.
Your data is not our training material
What you paste in is used to make your chart and nothing else. It is not used to train models, not sold, and not shared with advertisers. The privacy policy is written to be read, not to be survived.
How we are funded
ChartGPT is funded by the people who pay for it. There is no outside investment at present, which keeps the incentives simple: the product has to be worth its subscription to the person using it, this month.
