Cookie policy
Which cookies we set, what each one is for, and how to turn off the optional ones.
Effective 1 August 2026 · Last updated 1 August 2026
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use few of them, and none for advertising.
What we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
chartgpt_session | Keeps you signed in and links your requests to your session. | 2 hours after last activity |
XSRF-TOKEN | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery. Without it, sign-in and the contact form will not work. | 2 hours |
remember_web_… | Set only if you tick “keep me signed in” when you sign in, so you are not asked again on that device. Signing out removes it. | 5 years, or until you sign out |
chartgpt_prefs | Remembers interface choices such as your last chart type. | 1 year |
chartgpt_consent | Records your choice about optional cookies, so we do not ask again. | 6 months |
Optional: measurement
If you accept optional cookies, we set a cookie from our analytics provider to count visits and understand which pages are used. It records aggregate behaviour rather than building a profile of you, and the data is not shared with advertisers.
The first four cookies above are strictly necessary — the service does not work without them, so they are set without asking. Everything else waits for your consent.
Changing your mind
Clear the chartgpt_consent cookie in your browser settings and you will be asked again on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser; if you block the necessary ones, signing in will stop working.
Other storage
We use your browser's local storage to hold an unsaved chart while you are working on it, so a refresh does not lose your work. That data stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab or clear site data.
Third parties
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request. If you would rather it did not, we can serve fonts from our own domain instead — tell us at [email protected] and we will prioritise it.
